This has been one LLLOOONNNGGG story arc. That's something that this title can't say too often as the average story arc has lasted about 4 issues at most. This issue is part 6, and it appears that it will continue on for at least one more issue.

So a quick rundown summary of this issue: Logan rescues the Native, and Dr. Vapor is killed in the process by the Native, though Logan does find out that the Native is pregnant. Sabretooth's healing factor once again saves him, and he kills Mr. Murry and Mr. Willoughby for them double-crossing him. And it appears that Sabretooth now wants revenge on Logan for what Logan had did to him back at the entrance to the ranch, which sets up for the next issue's inevitable clash between Logan and Sabretooth. A bit of a predictable issue where nothing new is learned that we didn't already know from the previous issues, but one that sets up for hopefully another classic duel between Logan and Sabretooth.

  • WOLVERINE (VOL. 2) #18:
"Return of the Native: Part 6"

    IN THIS ISSUE:

At the Workshop in Montana, where two patrol guards from Post Four locates a Hummer with its lights on. As they approached they find Sabretooth, fully conscious, trapped under one of the wheels of the Hummer, demanding that one of them move the car off of him.

At the lone house which stood in the ranch, a guard talks to the two other patrol guards who informs him that they had just found Sabretooth who claimed he was alone, but couldn't explain how he got the car on his back. As he tells the Post Four guards that he was going to inform Mr. Willoughby of Sabretooth's arrival, Logan attacks the guard from behind. Donning his clothing, Logan gains entrance into the building, where he takes out another guard and gains access to the lower levels of the complex, presumably where the main research facility was located.

As Mr. Murray and Mr. Willoughby monitors Logan's movement via security cameras, Logan makes his way deeper into the complex. He catches the scent of armed guardsmen approaching his location and launches a preemptive strike against the heavily armed guardsmen. The guardsmen empty their machine guns' clips, but were unable to take Logan down. Logan tells them to reload, even though he was still going to kill them all. He quickly disburses all but one guard, who in fear of his life, is forced by Logan to bring him to the Native.

Meanwhile, in a room above, Sabretooth is escorted into the room where Mr. Willoughby and Mr. Murray were located. Despite their past differences and their attempt to neutralize Sabretooth, Mr. Willoughby offers Sabretooth five million dollars to dispose of Logan. They tell him that Logan was going to interfere with their auction of the Native's genetic material, and that he [Sabretooth] never did like Logan anyway. Sabretooth tells Mr. Willoughby that though that was true, he liked them even less, and proceeds to gut Mr. Willoughby. Mr. Murray attempts to flee, but Sabretooth quickly catches him and slices his throat open. Sabretooth proceeds to fight the other guards in the room.

Down below, the guard leads Logan to where he thinks the Native was being held. Logan allows the guard to flee as he enters the room where Dr. Vapor was still performing her work on the Native. Logan pushes the doctor aside and with the Native in his arms, asks Vapor what she had done to the Native. Vapor tells Logan that he had poisoned the Native with radiation but that it shouldn't hurt the Native's baby. She asks Logan whether he was the father, assuming that he was. In the meantime, Logan extracts the radioactive pellet from the Native's body as Vapor commented how she thought it was a cleaver way for her to use that to get around the Native's regenerative healing ability. She continues, telling him that they had harvested the Native's eggs and were auctioning the material off to the highest bidder, saying it was no different than that of breeding racehorses. Logan asks her where the eggs were, but she tells them that they had already been shipped to a secure facility. She was just about to comment that they weren't even human before the Native runs a clawed fist through Vapor, killing her. Logan carries the Native out of the lab to look for where her eggs had went.

In the meantime, as they make their escape, Sabretooth looks on, leaving behind a room full of dead carcasses. He comments how they made a cute couple, though he supposed he should finish what he had already started and was paid to do: taking down Logan.
