Staff members Who's in this issue? Recommended? This issue is simply a holdover issue from the previous one. Sabretooth is on the trail after Logan and the Native, while Logan is being introduced to more mysteries of his past: places and events that the Native introduces Logan to, events that he thinks he may or may not remember. So, consider this issue as one with ongoing clues to Logan's Weapon X origins. Now, you have to admit, the way the Native dealt with Sabretooth in this issue was one that was quite interesting. You could almost feel the anguish that Sabretooth must've been feeling when the Native unleashed her claws right in Sabretooth's groin area, and then another set into Sabretooth's eyes. I'm sure other guys like myself couldn't help but to just wince a bit when seeing the Native run her claws right through Sabretooth's private area. Ouch! We finally see the Native say a word finally, as she refers to the wooden shed on top of the hill as "home". Somehow, she and Logan must have had some type of relationship in the past, during the Weapon X days, yet these events are items that Logan could not remember at all. Are these events that actually occurred in the past? Perhaps, since Logan's past has always been one shrouded in mystery. We'll see where this leads in subsequent issues ... "Return of the Native: Part 3" IN THIS ISSUE: In the Pacific Northwest, Sabretooth is on the trail after Logan and the Native. He knows Logan's scent very well, and knows that as long as he follows Logan's scent, he would be able to find the Native as well. He finds evidence of a struggle between Logan and the Native, claw marks and blood from Logan and fur patches from the Native. He continues on, following the trail of evidence. Back in the Native's den, Logan and the Native were sleeping together. Logan, sound asleep, was aroused by the Native, who had touched an unexpecting Logan. The Native tries to make her move towards Logan, but Logan stops her, telling her that they couldn't stay there because he knew Sabretooth had used him to find her. She tries to make her move towards Logan, but Logan, knowing the danger Sabretooth posed to her, gets up. While putting his pants on, he points to the drawings that the Native had made on the wall, telling her that the bad men in her pictures were coming after her right now and wanted to take her back to the research lab. She points to the image of Logan escaping and saving her. Logan again, tells her that he couldn't remember the events. As they approach the den entrance, a single rifle shot hits her square in her back. She falls, wounded, into Logan's arms. Just then, a bullet hits Logan square in the side of his head. He falls to the ground with the Native at his side. Sabretooth makes his way up the hill, muttering about how Logan made it so easy for him, giving him so much time to allow him to pick his aim on both the Native and Logan. He stands over Logan, and was about to fire another insurance shot into Logan's head to prevent Logan from giving chase, when the sound of a claw can be heard. Sabtooth's face instantly writhes in pain, as we see an image of the Native's arm reaching upwards into Sabretooth's crotch area. Sabretooth, grasping his groin area, bends over in pain, which gives the Native another opportunity to use her other set of claws right into Sabretooth's eyes. Sabretooth grasps his head, and staggers down the hill. Logan, his healing factor at work, manages to get up, and wanted to give pursuit after Sabretooth to stop him. The Native, however, had other intentions, leading Logan away from Sabretooth and up the hill. Down the hill, Sabretooth was crouched over at a tree, waiting for his own healing factor to heal his eyes and groin area. His client, Mr. Willoughby, radios in, and tells Sabretooth that the Native and Logan had gotten away, and subsequently, he cancels Sabretooth's contract for his failure in capturing the two, opting instead to bring in "professionals". Mr. Willoughby blasts Sabretooth for being nothing more than ancient relics, like Logan, and that the Native was their future. Infuritated, Sabreotooth breaks his radio, and resumes his pursuit of the Native and Logan, now with the full intention of killing them. Way up the hill, the Native leads Logan all the way to a top, where a small cabin existed. As Logan moved closer, he wonders why he remembered this place, the smell of the insides, the items that was inside. He holds up a copy of Walden, vaguely remembering that the two of them had been there before. The Native speaks up in broken English, saying that they were home. |
