Just when the stories can't get any weirder, Larry Hama takes it one step further by making Wolverine see things and obey things that only exists within his mind. It seems to be a nice story with Logan going undercover once again, this time with a CIA-type flavor. The book seems to jump around a bit in the beginning, but it gets more easier to follow later on.

  • WOLVERINE #66:
    "Prophecy"

    IN THIS ISSUE:

In Ottawa, Canada: Logan is found wandering the streets there. He enters the Prophecy hotel. There, he heads for room #23, which was in the back of the hotel. Some old man starts babbling about the meaning of the word Prophecy: how it is a part of the apocalypse where they find out all the secrets.

Back at the X-Mansion, Professor X, Jean Grey, Jubilee, and Colossus finds Wolverine's thrashed room empty. Professor X says it was all his fault because he had entered Logan's mind upon Logan's request.

Back in Ottawa, an old guy asks Logan why he came back. While using a crowebar to pry open the loose wooden boards on the floor, Logan talks about how back in Salem, Massachusetts, while playing pinball, an angel started whispering secrets in his ear about how he had to resolve things with Terry Adams in order for him to have peace.

At the X-Mansion, Xavier continues wiht his story about how Logan had made a two hundred mile trek after burying Silver Fox (seen in the previous issue), and did a lot of thinking, and when he came back, had asked for Xavier's assistance to help him sort out what memories were real and what were fake, as well as what the importance of this Terry Adams is. Inside his mind, Xavier had to enter Wolverine's subconscious, and as a result, it did something to Wolverine. Now he believes that Wolverine thinks he's in the past and is on a mission to kill Terry Adams, which is why he disappeared. They tried acquiring the help of Wraith to no avail because Wraith said only Sabretooth and Maverick were supposed to kill Terry Adams in the past, but their mission had been scrubbed.

Back in Ottawa, Logan uncovers weapons and a bunch of false ID's under the wooden plank that had been underneath. By the time the hotel managers got there, Logan is gone, but they did discover the weapons still hidden within the hole.

A week later, the X-Men manages to trace one of Wolverine's false alias, and found that he was making his way into Russia.

To Russia we go, where a delusionary Wolverine is still hearing things from the angel who tells him that to make things right, he has to kill Terry Adams. While onboard on the train, they encounter a KGB border patrol, who already suspected Logan as being some foreign agent. Logan tries to use false ID, but is shot down and presumably killed by the border patrol. They take his money, but leaves his costume behind.
