Well, Albert and Elsie Dee together are always awesome to see. Cute issue, has some of its good moments. Overall, a well-rounded book. I'm glad to see that at least Pierce explains what the true purpose of Albert and Elsie Dee was for. Once again, artwork by Silvestri is impressive. Cover art looks intimidating, though that gold-ish background is kinda icky in my opinion. But otherwise, this one has a good enough storyline and artwork to make up for most of its little "quirks" that it may contain.

  • WOLVERINE #38:
    "See Venice & Die!"

    IN THIS ISSUE:

The location: Los Angeles. The mutant: Storm. She is after two "gaming entrepreneur", Jocko and Sally, who was passing out wanted flyers with Logan's image on there. They explain, and with video proof, that he had been robbing their best joints. Storm can't believe her eyes, and heads out to look for Logan.

Meanwhile, two of Sally's men, Molokai and Reno, had located Logan getting off a bus from Vancouver with two female escorts. Molokai and Reno grabs Logan, and Reno knocks out Logan with a lug wrench. They lock him in the trunk of their car and heads off to find Sally and collect the ten grand reward that was on Logan's head.

In another joint, a person who looks to be like Logan and a little girl breaks in to rob that place. (We know them best as Albert and Elsie Dee.)

Back to where the real Logan was...Molokai and Reno finds Sally and tells him that they've got the man that Sally was after. Sally thought they were joking because he had just gotten a call that said that the guilty man had just robbed another one of his joints, and was heading towards Venice Beach. Logan was awake then, and claws his way out of the trunk of the car, wanting to know who that imposter of him was.

In Australia, Pierce was explaining to Lady Deathstrike about how Elsie Dee was designed to be a walking bomb. Deathstrike wonders how he can prevent Elsie Dee from overriding her main programming about not to self-destruct. Pierce tells her that she's been programmed by Bone-Breaker to carry the intellect of a 5-year old, so therefore, she wouldn't be able to reason out her main programming to self-destruct. Little did he know that Bone-Breaker had screwed up.

Back in Los Angeles, Logan had stole Molokai's car and was heading towards Venice to encounter his imposter. Sally and his men gives chase after Logan.

In Venice, Elsie Dee was boosting Albert's logic circuits so that he can be smarter. She also installed an FM-communicator in him so thatthey can retain contact with each other. Albert saw Logan coming, so they had to quickly plan out their strategy to attack him. Once Logan showed up on the boardwalk there, he is attacked by Albert. Everyone on the boardwalk thinks it's some action flick that Hollywood was filming there, as Logan and Albert continues battling it out. Storm shows up and prevents Sally and his men from interfering. Logan manages to disable Albert by slicing Albert's belly, causing much damage to his system. To devert his attention away and to fulfill her programming, Elsie Dee decides to set fire to the nearby warehouse where she was to attract Logan's attention there so that once he shows up, she'd detonate.
