Interesting issue. With this new (and definately one of the most popular) staff in the Wolverine comic line, they bring with them some great storywriting as well as excellent artwork. It's interesting to note though that this story consists of another drug again. Wonder what's up with all these stories about drugs in Madripoor. Anyways, this is a pretty good issue. Not the greatest, but still pretty good.

  • WOLVERINE #31:
    "Killing Zone"

    IN THIS ISSUE:

Back in Madripoor at the Princess Bar in lowtown Madripoor, Corrigan and Logan are having a drink. And they knew they were being watched by a group of Yakuza members: a Japanese gang. Corrigan leaves via the back entrance, leaving Logan to deal with them. A big messy fight then erupts in the bar between Logan and a few of the Yakuza gang members.

In the palace, Dr. Malheur and Dai-Kumo presents an offer to the prince. They can prove that a type of monkey that was native to Madripoor: the Madripoorian Spider-Monkeys, had a chemical that could cure cancer, and that what they requested was that the prince would allow them the opportunity to harvest these monkeys and sell this serum to rich wealthy people who may have cancer. Which would make them (and the prince) very rich. Tyger though still has her doubts about it.

Meanwhile, the fight rages on at the bar. Logan is constantly shot at, stabbed, etc., and yet, he still doesn't go down. Corrigan, meanwhile, still searches for help, but no one would go with him.

As the fight progresses, the odds were definately still in Logan's favor. Dragonhead and two of his personal hoodlums decides that it was time for Raiden, which we see was the drug that came from the monkeys that we had been reading about. Not only did it cure cancer, but it also was a very powerful drug that caused the sensation of no pain and no fear. Logan has quite some trouble with them. When Tiger and Corigan arrives, they discovered two of them dead, and the third was still doing battle with Logan out on the docks. The third pulled out two grenades, grabs Logan, and flings both of them into the water, without letting go. Sharks then approaches. All Tiger and Corrigan could do was watch. Next thing they knew, the grenades explode from under water, and the sharks were dead. Logan manages to crawl out. They ask how he managed to escape, and he said that he just handed the lunatic to the sharks, who ate him, grenades and all.
