One of the first super-villians that I had read about was Tiger Shark from an Avengers West Coast issue. So, I was quite pleased to find out that he was also involved in the Wolverine issue series. Good story so far, not exactly original, but satisfying nevertheless. Good artwork by both John Bryne and Klaus Janson.

  • WOLVERINE #19:
    "Heroes and Villains"

    IN THIS ISSUE:

Logan arrives in Tierra Verde with the help of Gateway. Upon arrival, he stumbles upon Tiger Shark fighting a new masked heroiness that Logan had never seen before. She called herself La Bandera, and her mutant abilities were to focus her follower's spirit of strength and transform it into shootable energy which she focuses through her staff. She surprisingly almost defeats Tiger Shark, but he was too strong, and right before he kills her, Logan interferes, and rips a hole in his wetsuit, causing water to spill out. Tiger Shark though manages to escape by leaping back into the sea.

Logan tries to talk the girl out of working the superhero business, but she wouldn't listen, saying that she would inspire a revolution to overthrow the president, since drugs was what ruined her family, and Caridad was a known drug trafficer.

Later on, Logan encounter Jack Bascomb, who was a CIA agent that he had worked with when Logan worked with Canadian Intelligence. Jack warns him that she could be a "Big bad communist threat".

A brief scene is then shown with Caridad complaining to Kingpin in New York about Kingpin's villian, Tiger Shark, wrecking havoc on his country. Later on, while Geist gives him a clean shave, Caridad's research team had determined that only the cocaine that came from the place known as El Jardín del Rey had this unique property, and Caridad tells about a myth that had said that ancient Gods had fought there, and that one God had fought to his death on that mountainside. The scientists questions whether they will be able to find a test subject who would not die from the effects of the drugs, and Caridad reveals that they did find one subject who was capable of it, and that was Roughouse.

After giving him a shave, Geist was all alone. Wolverine then pops in, and decides to do some payback against Geist. But, their fight was interrupted by La Bandera and her followers outside, who were attacking the building. Geist and Logan escapes in an underground tunnel. He takes him to a filtration system plant, where Logan was ambushed by Tiger Shark. Tiger Shark and Logan fights underwater, and while Logan briefly gets away, he was caught later on outside, and the fight continues underwater, with oxygen growing short for Wolverine.
