After everyone left, Gracie spoke, "I have to do this Logan"

He shook his head, "You set me up, you lousy..."

Gracie cut him off, "I did what I had to do Logan, what I was trained to do!" she exclaimed. The fire had now spread and was running wild in the room now, however, neither seemed to notice.

He was getting madder by the second, "So what was that back there? An Act?"

Gracie shook her head, "Believe what you want to believe Logan, even if it changes the way you feel about me."

"So it was all a lie," he said running his fingers through his hair, "Everything?"

"No" said Gracie, "Not everything. I had every intention of killing you Logan, only I didn't plan on falling for you."

He held his hand out to stop her, "Don't do this Gracie"

A single tear fell from her eye, "I have to Logan. They're waiting for me to."

He moved in, "They are gone. It's just you and me"

More tears started to fall, "It can't ever be you and me Logan. I was created to kill not to love"

He put his arms around her then he kissed her. She fought to get away, "No" she said mid-kiss. She tried to get away but he was overpowering her, "No!" she shouted finally as she pushed away from him. As she did, she cut his face with one of her claws, "You're trying to play me and it won't work" she said wiping the blood off on her pant leg.

Logan's heart fell, "All right," he said with a sigh, "We'll do it your way" He popped his claws. Immediately they sprang into a montage of kicks, hits that would've killed a normal human. But these were two stubborn mutants who both refused to give into one another. They fought long and hard for twenty minutes until Logan kicked Gracie in the face, sending her flying back into the wall where she collapsed like a ton of bricks. "This is insane," said Logan heading for the door, "It's pointless to fight Gracie." But Gracie wasn't having any of it, She charged him while he stood in the doorway and they fell into the hallway. Logan scrambled to his feet and started running. He had to get away from her before he did kill her so he high-tailed it back down the corridor, towards the exit.

"You can't hide from me Logan," shouted Gracie as she ran after him.

"No," Logan said turning a corner, "But maybe I can give you a run for your money." He was on his way out when he stopped in front of a door that read: LAB, "As good a place as any" said Logan before kicking the door in. He walked into the room and jumped up on a dusty exam table. Outside, in the hallway, he could hear Gracie making her way towards him. She stopped in front of the splintered door just as Logan crawled up into the ceiling.

She had spent so much time in that room, so it felt like a strange homecoming as she walked across the threshold. Gracie knew he was here, she could smell his scent in the air.

"I know you're here" he heard her say.

The sweat was forming on his brow while he hung from the rafters over Gracie. Suddenly she jumped on the exam bed and started punching holes in the ceiling with her claws. Logan winced as her claws pierced his leg. Below him, Gracie froze when she hit something solid. Logan found himself biting his lip again to keep from howling in pain as Gracie continued to punch her way through the ceiling. She was mostly hitting him in the process until Logan said, "To hell with this" and jumped through the small hole that Gracie had made. He landed on top of her and took her down to the floor with him. As soon as they were on common ground then the fist-fight ensued. Eventually things became bloody, but both their healing factors were working on overdrive so the damage was minimal between them. They finally got to their feet and Logan threw Gracie up against a wall. It was then he realized that he had something that she didn't. It was something that the scientists had neglected to give her. It was something that you had to be born with, A primal berserker rage. Logan's anger was finally released. He attacked mercilessly, non-stop with punches and kicks. Gracie managed to block most of them but some really hit home. He was breaking her and she knew it. Logan had backed her up into a corner punching and kicking until Gracie fell to the floor. That was when he stopped. She was not moving. Logan kneeled to check her pulse. It was then that Gracie lurched forward with her claws stabbing Logan in the chest. He howled in pain and popped his own claws and rammed them into Gracie's chest. Gracie froze, immediately she withdrew her claws and gasped a bloody breath. Logan caught her as she fell backwards.

"It gonna be ok Darlin' we just have to get you back..." He said as he cradled her to the floor.

Gracie cut him off, "No, just let it stop" she said gasping for air.

Logan held her close, "No you're stronger than this. Fight it."

Gracie shook her head, "I'm dead Logan, get out of here before it's too late."

"I didn't mean...Gracie I didn't mean,"

She put her hand on his face, "Just let it stop Logan," she said taking her final breath. Then she was gone.

Outside the compound it had started to snow. Jean, Storm and Cyclops all stood outside the Blackbird waiting for their comrade.

"There he is" said Storm.

"What's he carrying?" asked Cyclops. His answer came, as Logan got closer.

"Gracie" said Jean under her breath.

Logan didn't say a word; he simply walked past them and into a clearing behind the Blackbird. He laid Gracie down and started digging a hole. When he was done he placed her in it and covered her up with the snow-covered earth. Then he got up and walked back to his friends. As he got closer Jean placed her hand on his shoulder, "Logan are you all right?"

He looked at her, "Ask me again later sometime"

Then he walked onboard the jet and buckled into his chair. He didn't say a word all the way back to Westchester.
