Xavier's plan was simple. He picked Rogue to be at the woman's bedside while she woke. He had the restraints taken away and had her moved to a room in the mansion, "You don't have to do this if you don't feel comfortable Rogue" said Jean as they say in the other room – preparing.

Rogue took a deep breath, "I want to really" she exclaimed, "Besides if it will help Logan."

Jean smiled, "You're a good friend Rogue. I just hope Logan will benefit from this." Rogue stood, "Well. Showtime."

The smell of fresh linen and sterile medical dressings brought her back slowly. She no longer felt groggy. The last thing she remembered was being taken down by that man. He had incapacitated her twice; he wouldn't do it again she thought as she started to come around. In the distance she heard a door unlock. Someone came into the room. She didn't say anything she just sat down beside the bed. "Can you hear me?" she heard the girl say, "How are you feeling?"

The woman uttered a barely audible word, "Water" she said simply. Rogue grabbed a pitcher and a glass. She gently cradled the woman's head while she drank voraciously. "Thank you" she said more clearly.

"I'm Rogue" she began as she sat back down in the chair.

"Where am I?" asked the woman.

From Xavier's office they watched while Rogue slowly explained things to the woman – putting her slowly at ease. Logan didn't like it. He watched silently at the happenings.

"Why have I been brought here?" asked the woman.

Rogue cleared her throat, "You were hurt"

The woman cut her off, "I heal"

Rogue smiled, "Yeah I know it was just to make sure."

She eyed Rogue, "Why do I get the feeling you're covering for something"

Rogue got out of her chair, "I'd better go."

"I'd better get down there," said Jean walking to the door, behind her Storm followed. "Be careful" said Cyclops as the two woman left. When they had gone he turned to Logan, "I don't like this one bit you bringing her here"

Logan huffed a sigh, "That makes two of us."

Jean quickened her pace as she walked down the hall to the elevator. Behind her, Storm, had a time keeping up with her, "She's all right Jean" said Storm as they stopped at the lift. "I know but..."

Storm cut her off, "So do I, Rogue is careful, she can take care of herself."

"What happened to the man who found me?" she asked straightening up in the bed.

Rogue grew more rigid, "Oh, he's around" she said.

The woman caught her hesitation, "Meaning he's here isn't he" she snapped.

"You know he's not coming down here, why don't we" Began Rogue.

All of a sudden the woman threw back the covers and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "What are you doing?" asked Rogue, "You know there's something I've been meaning' to ask you too."

The woman stood up, swayed, and then sat back down again, "What's that?"

"Well," Rogue chose her words, "I was wondering' what we might call you, if you'd pardon my manners."

The woman stopped, "Gracie"

Rogue grew easy, "Gracie. I like it."

"Good morning" said Jean as she walked in the door. The woman froze, suddenly she became rigid. Rogue noticed the change and spoke up, "This is Jean" said Rogue. But it wasn't Jean that was making Gracie's hair stand on end. Outside, in the doorway, stood Logan. "You" hissed Gracie.

Logan managed a sick grin, "Me" he said simply.

With what seemed like a few seconds the woman tried to jump out of her bed. Only this time Jean caught her in a telekinetic bubble, "I can't allow anything to happed to you, you're still in need of some medical attention."

Gracie eyed her "You can't keep me here!"

Jean nodded, "You're not a prisoner" with that she released the woman, "You can leave as soon as we finish" said Jean.

An hour later Logan stood outside Gracie's room. Xavier had told him it would be a sign of trust if he escorted her back to the medical unit. Rogue had offered to do it. But the Professor wanted Logan to do it all the same. He stood in front of the door and knocked. Gracie answered it before Logan could finish knocking.

"Hi" said Gracie. Logan huffed. "I think we got off on the wrong foot," said Gracie.

Again, Logan huffed, "I'll say," he said, "You ready?" Gracie nodded, "Yes" Then he started down the corridor. At some times Gracie even had up speed up to catch Logan, "I didn't know this was a race" Logan rolled his eyes, "Look let's get one thing straight. I don't know where you came from but if you're going to stay here you've got to follow one rule"

Gracie stopped, "And what is that?"

He stopped in front of the medical unit, "Stay the hell out of my way." Gracie didn't respond to this. He then left her there alone. Gracie shrugged off Logan's attitude before going inside.

"Sit right here" said Jean, pointing to the table at the center of the room. Gracie obliged by hoping up on the table. Jean returned with a tray of instruments, "Lie down please" she said quietly. Gracie did as she was told. Then Jean dimmed the lights all around until there was only one small light, coming from the ceiling, shining on Gracie. Jean moved around to stand over Gracie, "Try and relax" she said as the door slid open. Gracie could hear someone else in the room "Hello Gracie" said another voice. It was the Professor.

"Hi" said Gracie, "What's going on?"

Professor Xavier stopped at the head of the table where Gracie lay, "I'm going to read your thoughts" he said as he placed his hands on her forehead, "With your permission of coarse."

Gracie was skeptical, "A lot of good it will do you."
