Chapter Thirteen

Wolverine paid the pimply young man at the counter, and grabbed the two hotel keys off the counter. Walking back outside, he tossed one set to Nick Fury.

"Drop yer stuff and we will meet back at the lobby in 30 minutes."

Nick and John shook their head in agreement, and both turned to walk toward the side of the motel. Logan grabbed up Jubilee's luggage and his bag, and motioned for her to follow.

"You all right, darlin'?" Jubilee seemed to have turned positively green since the last teleport.

"I dunno. How come you aren't affected?"

"Part would be my healin' factor. The rest is that I guess I got used to it."

"How many times has that guy zapped you around like that? He kinda gives me the creeps."

"Too many to recall. He worked on our team when I was part of the Weapon X program. Back when Creed was supposedly a good guy."

"How come I never heard about any of this?"

"Been awhile since I could remember anything. Slowly, pieces of my past come back to me. Some are just to terrible to burden anyone with."

Logan opened up the motel door, and slung his bag on one of the beds in the cramped room. He dropped Jubilee's suitcase in front of the other bed.

"Logan, give me a sec to wash my hands and face." Jubilee trotted off toward what she assumed would be a bathroom.

"Sure darlin'. I am going to put in a call to Ckye. I don't want the guys to be caught off guard if we have to call in reinforcements."

"You calling in the Calvary?" Jubilee shouted from the sink. "This has got to be a first."

Logan proceeded to catch Jubilee up on the details he had learned from Nick Fury. Jubilee's mouth stood agape, until she looked in the mirror and saw how idiotic she looked. Her mouth snapped shut, and she whirled around to face back into the motel room.

"You can't be serious. The Friends of Humanity are wanting to purchase mutant soldiers to hunt down mutants!?!", Jubilee exclaimed.

"What don't make sense to me is where the technology is coming from. Few people have the technical know-how to recreate Chun's experiments, and no one has his ability in genetics. It just doesn't make sense. The only thing I do know is that the FOH does not know the first thing about making a mutant better. Lemme call Cyke and see if he can't dig up anything."

Jubilee turned back to the sink as Logan started digging through his bag looking for his communicator. Finding the small round device, Logan pressed the tiny button in the middle of a silver X. The device sprang to life.

"Logan. We have been awaiting your call."

"Hey Cyke." Logan said as he tapped the button again.

"Are you still in Madripoor?"

"Nope. In Las Vegas."

"Las Vegas?" Cyclops' voice suddenly sounded apprehensive. "How did you get there so quick?"

"Long story. The trail for our mystery men led us here. Seems that one of the person's involved was none other that Dr. Chun, one of the butchers that took away my memories."

"This is definitely troubling. The professor just got word that Sinister is in the vicinity. Cerebro picked up his signature during one of his routine scans."

"That's it! That's the other piece of the puzzle that has been missing. I have a feeling that whoever thought they were purchasing the Weapon X project are in for a surprise."

"We had hoped that the two were unrelated. However, it would now seem that the coincidence would be too much."

"I was callin' to have you guys on the ready. Now I am thinkin' that this new info calls fer you getting' yer butts down here to Nevada. Was Cerebro able ta get a fix on Sinister's location?"

"Not exactly. But we could narrow it down to somewhere in the Nevada desert. Our long range sensors have been getting some strange readings."

"What'cha mean?"

"There has been a flurry of activity around one particular site. Area 51."
