Logan took this time to put on his Wolverine suit. He looked Horaio in the eye and extended his claws. He noticed a flash of hesitation. Horaio knew who he was. Knew the danger. It was just a second, but it was all that Logan needed. Horaio came to him, burning like a furnace. Logan didn't move. The temperature rose drastically. When he was in range, Wolverine attacked him with the claws. Horaio went back. The pain was almost unbearable for Logan. Horaio came again, hotter then before. Logan's hair began to burn as he got closer. Logan jumped and hit him in the neck with the claws. His flesh and skin burned, as Horaio screamed. He didn't. He couldn't give Horaio the taste. So he started walking in Horaio's direction, and Horaio threw a fire ball at him. Logan burst in flames, but didn't stop walking, claws extended. The entire body in flames, but he didn't mind the pain. "The good thing of the physical pain is that when it goes away, the memory of it goes too", he said once. So he kept moving. In desperation, Horaio rose his own temperature. The rocks around him began melting, turning to lava. Wolverine continued, though it was like walking in the surface of the sun. Wolverine started thinking about what he was doing when he heard Jubilee's voice screaming something. Then it was Daniella's voice, that echoed in his mind asking him to stop. "How can I beat this guy? He's pure thermal energy..." he thought, but didn't stop walking. The flames on his body were enough trouble. Then he realised he was too close to be still alive. The floor, rock, was almost liquid where he stood, and yet he was intact, and even his flames went out. Horaio couldn't believe it.

- < This is not possible! You should be dead by now! No one can stand this temperature! >

Suddenly Logan remembered that he had what was left of the holy fountain's water in a canteen tied to his belt. The water was keeping him from burning. Question being for how long. He decided to risk a move.

- < You're gone, Horaio. Give up and I'll let you live! >

- < Never! You won't fool me with those tricks!!! >

Saying that, Horaio blasted a fireball in his chest. Logan almost couldn't stand the pain. His eyes filled with rage. He looked at Horaio and screamed a war cry, like an animal. Jubilee, watching from distance, knew that wasn't good. The fury that took Wolverine in the next moments was unimaginable. He tried at any cost to attack Horaio, but only burned and hurt himself more. Horaio decided to attack someone else. He saw Jubilee and blasted. She was sure to be killed when suddenly, for the second time, Clastor saved her, only this time there was no salvation for him, since the heat was so much it incinerated him right away. Only then Wolverine stopped to think again. Taking the canteen, he opened it and threw it against Horaio. His fire went out. Still in a berserk stage, Wolverine jumped at him and, ignoring the cries and begging, sliced his head off his body. Horaio was dead. He ran up to Clastor.

- < W-well my f-friend, this is it. I... >

- < Don't speak, I am going to the mountain, t'get more o' that water. >

- < T-there... there is no time... stay with me this last moment... >

- < No! Hang in there, it's never to late!!! >

But it was. With his last breath, Clastor mumbled his last words and died. "Logan" - he said - "They've tried to defeat you but couldn't. Nothing they did ever got you down hard enough to keep you down. Here was the same. Thank you for freeing us, for coming back. Too bad you can't stay. Just remember: you don't need anything but yourself to win... so much... to say... so.. weak... goodbye, Log... unh..." It was a dark day for Logan, despite everything. Jubilee hugged him. The warmth of her heart gave him the strength to stand up and start the journey back. He appointed Daniella as the new leader, said his good-byes to her and left. He and Jubilee walked together in silence. They just looked at the stars and held each other tight. Logan felt a smile come across his face as he looked the fragile figure that was with him, and thought about the power she had. No one would guess, looking at them, that just a couple of days ago, she saved his life. But he had his mind full, and decided to stop thinking, just walked under the cloudless sky, as clear as when they got there, but now the hot, humid wind and the beautiful views carried the death of a friend, and the promise of a new love. Nothing of what has been will be the same the second time you look at it.
