- I knew you were going to do this. It was just a matter of time. All right, I'll talk while we walk. Fair enough?

- Spit it out, lady - said Jubilee.

- As you probably figured out by now, I am a mutant. I am a decendant of the Inca people. There are many like me. Same as you, we've been hunted, beaten, killed, tortured. Prejudice was everywhere. Unlike you, however, we chose not to fight because it wouldn't be a fair fight. So we made a secret deal with the government. We would all go live in the mountains. Never interfere with the regular people. All we wanted in return was for them to live us alone. This was many years ago, more like decades. And we kept our part of the deal, so far. Gradually, we became a legend. A cultural character like, for you, Werewolves or Vampires. Everybody feared us, but no one ever saw us. Every time a baby was born and signs of mutation were detected, the baby was declared dead, and sent to us on the mountains.

- What's the problem, then? - asked Jubilee.

- Problem is, Jubi, the "so far" part. The cab driver told me about 'spirits' haunting the village. - said Wolverine - Well lady, what can we do for you?

- Well, señor Logan, these attacks began when Horaio became chief of the village. Tradition dictated that we should all obey. He had lessons and tests in order to become a wise chief. But his brother Luario didn't think like that. Jealous of the power his brother now possessed, he turned his back on the village, and went to another one, higher on the top of Huascaran. He is a very clever and patient man. He married the chief's daughter, in order to obtain his title.

- And...

- Well, he did. But, maybe homesick, he thought he could unite both tribes.

- Let me guess - said Jubilee - He wanted to be the chief.

- Well... actually, Horaio decided to be the chief. He liked his brothers idea, and his mind, blinded by the power he had so far, decided that he was the rightful ruler of all tribes. He completely forgot all the teaching he had in order to become chief and became a dictator, declaring war on other tribes, and conquering them, one by one.

- So, what could be done? - Jubilee asked. Logan only listened.

- There is only one way. The first generation mutants left some laws for us, in case this happened. An Inca warrior must defeat a series of challenges, in order to gain the right to fight the chief. If he should succeed in all of them - even because non succeeding means death - and defeat the chief, he would become chief, or point someone to. That's where you come in.

- We ain't Inca, lady - said Wolverine, speaking for the first time.

- That's where you are wrong. You know how you don't remember your past? Well, Logan, you are one of the Eternal brothers.

- What you talking 'bout?

- Your healing factor, Logan. Don't you find strange the fact that you were in World War II, and still look the same? Your cells are always renewed. You descend directly from the first mutant.

- Apocalypse! - said Jubilee, staggered.
