After breakfast Katherine took Allison downstairs into Hank's med lab. Allison regarded the room with round eyes, "Mommy, I am not liking dis place, we leave now?"
Katherine shook her head, [No Ally, Hank is going to do a check up to make sure everything is alright. K?] Katherine's mental voice was soft and soothing, helping her daughter to relax.
"K, Mommy," she said softly.
The check up took about half an hour, when he was finished Hank gave Allison a large red sucker. "Here you go Miss Allison. You are ship shape."
"T'ank you Hank," she exclaimed, putting the sucker into her mouth happily. Then she turned to her mother. "Ship shape. Is dat good Mommy? Like de one's at da peer?"
Katherine laughed, "No Ally, he means you're all healthy." Katherine looked at Hank. "Absolutly no problems?" she asked softly.
"Absolutly Miss Miller. She's a healthy, remarkably happy four and a half year old," he smiled reassuringly.
Katherine sighed. "Thank goodness," she whispered.
"Now, I must ask you Katherine. What are your plans for the future?"
Katherine looked sad. "We're leaving this afternoon," she said softly, then picked up Allison and went to find Jesse.
"Everything okay with our little Ally Cat?" he asked when she reached his side. He was standing in open doorway of the mansion.
"Yes Unco Jessie, I'm ship shaped, but not like da peer," she said happily.
Jesse chuckled, "That's good munchkin."
[ Are we leaving now Jesse? ]
[ Yeah, I was waiting for you to come out. We'll say goodbye and a definite thank you and be on our way ]
[ Jesse? ]
[ Yeah? ]
[ Where will we go? ]
Jesse sighed audibly, [ Will find somewhere Kat, don't worry ]
"I can't help but worry Jesse."
"'Bout what?" Logan asked from behind them.
They both turned around startled. "Logan!" Allison exclaimed, reaching her arms out to him exuberantly. He took her without a word, smiling, "Hey ya Squirt. How'd the check up go?"
"Hank says dat I am shaped like a boat," she said happily, "and he gave me a sucker!"
Logan chuckled and looked at Katherine, "Boat huh?"
"Those weren't his exact words," she said softly. Wondering how she had become so attatched to this man in such a short time, much like my daughter I suppose, who was contendedly licking her sucker from his arms.
"Come on Katherine, let's say our good byes and get on our way."
"You leavin'?" Logan asked, wondering why he felt like he'd been gut punched.
"Yes, thank you Logan," Katherine said, looking at him with those lovely violet eyes. "For everything," she whispered. Tears gathering, then getting pushed back.
Jesse look at her, putting a hand on her shoulder, "Thanks Logan. I don't know how we'll ever repay you guys," he said, attempting to take a clingy Allison from his arms.
"No Unco Jessie! We no go!" she said angrily.
"Allison." Katherine said softly, "Come here love." Allison began to cry and Katherine took her into her arms, patting her consolingly. "Hush love, hush," she said softly.
"I don't like to leave Momma, it's so warm here. Not cold like usual. You can't even hear de cars in da street," she sobbed softly.
"I know Ally." Katherine whispered, her voice breaking.
[ Jean? ]
[ Oh! Katherine. Is something wrong?! ]
[ No, I just wanted to say thank you and good bye ]
[ You're leaving? ]
[ Yes ]
[ Where will you go? ]
[ I don't know Jean, Jesse'll figure something out ]
[ What about Logan? ] Jean got no answer.
Katherine and Jesse finnished thanking everyone, then, with Allison in attendence, left the mansion as quickly as they had entered.
Logan sat outside in the dark, staring up at the stars and thinking of Katherine and how she loved the stars. As he looked up at the bright twinkling diamonds he was reminded of what she said and suddenly felt as if he weren't so alone. Someday Katie, someday soon. He vowed softly. It meant many things. Logan, somehow, some way, had fallen in love in the short time he'd known her. He had lost love once, twice, many times, and he wasn't about to let go of it again.
