Downstairs everyone was waiting in the kitchen. Jesse, Logan, and Remy told them what happened at the rally.

Hank looked concerned. "This could be very, very bad," he said.

"In what way, Hank? We got the kid back." Logan said.

"Publicity, the news. It's going to be bad for mutants."

"I don't think our good name could get any more trashed then it already is Hank."

"Still, Hank is correct. I think that we all should keep a low profile for awhile. The Friends of Humanity aren't going to be very pleased with us." Charles said.

"As if they were sending flowers and chocolates to begin with." Logan remarked.

"Sorry we caused so much trouble." Jesse said, "And thank you, for everything. I don't know what we would have done."

"Don't worry about it Jesse. It wasn't really trouble." Jean said.

"Heh, dat's cause you weren't thrown around by de petite femme sleeping in de other room." Remy teased.

"Hey, I was thrown into a tree." Logan said.

"Unco Jessie?" A small voice said from the doorway. They turned and saw adorable Allison Miller standing in the doorway.

Jesse knelt down, "C'mere Ally Cat," he said.

She smiled and ran to him, throwing her little arms around his neck, "Ally missed you Unco Jessie!" She exclaimed.

Jesse looked into her round little face, so much like Katherine's. "Missed you too kiddo."

She turned from him and looked around. "Who are all dese people?" She asked.

Jesse turned and intoduced her. "That is Professor Xavier," he began, pointing each person out as he said their names.

Allison smiled, "Professor X-e-ver."

Everyone chuckled, "Remy."

"Wemy."

"Jean."

"Jean."

"Scott."

"Scoot"

"Ororo."

Allison's little face scrunched up, "Oreo." She said finally.

Storm looked faintly amused. Everyone else laughed. "Rogue."

"Rogue."

"Hank."

"Hank."

"And Logan."

Allison smiled, "Hi Logan, I remember you from da car."

Logan smiled, "Hey Squirt."

She smiled, "Unco Jessie, Mommy is sleeping still. When she wake up?"

"I dunno. Let's go up and see her." He left the kitchen, saying over his shoulder before he left, "Thank you all again."

"Well ain't she cute and a half." Rogue said.

"Make's you want one." Jean said.

"Uh-oh Scott. Jean's got dat wild look in her eye. Looks like you're going to be spendin' some busy nights." Remy said.

Everyone laughed and began to leave the kitchen to get back to what they were doing, save Logan, Jean, and Hank.

"I would really like to get a look at the child to make sure nothing is wrong with her."

"Don't worry Hank, she looked perfectly healthy. I'm sure you can look at her later. Give her awhile to get settled. She's been through a lot for a three and a half year old."

"Of course. Well, I'll get back to the lab." Hank said, then left.

"They're going to leave now, huh Jeanie." Logan commented after awhile.

Jean looked up from the fridge, "I don't know Logan. You should talk to them about it."

Katherine, Jesse, and Allison came down the next morning. Allison was chatting happily with her mother and Katherine nodded, genuinely interested in Allison's baby talk.

"Good morning ever'body!" the child exclaimed happily as they entered the kitchen.

Jean, Scott, Remy, Rogue, Storm, Hank, and Logan sat in the kitchen, "Good morning child." Storm said.

"Uh, Katherine, may I speak with you a moment?" Hank asked.

"Of course Hank." She said softly, putting Allison down.

"I would like to do a check up on Allison to make sure nothing is wrong with her physically or mentally. Would that be alright?"

Katherine nodded, "Of course. I think that would be best. They were talking about demonstrations and surgery, getting rid of the 'mutant abomination', 'curing' us of the 'plague'." Katherine sighed, "When would you like to do the tests?"

"After breakfast if that would be alright."

Katherine nodded and turned to sit down. Allison was standing between Logan's chair and Jean chattering to them happily. Jesse walked over to her, "What was that all about?"

"Nothing. Hank just wants to do a check up." Katherine said, looking back to her daughter. A bitter sweet smile rose her cheeks.

Allison raised her arms up and Logan pulled her into his lap, she continued to talk to him happily, "T'ank you Logan for 'elping us yesterday. Dat man scared me."

"Any time Darlin'."

She smiled, "I like the way you say dat."

"What? Darlin'?"

"Yeah." She giggled.
