Logan found Katherine laying in the grass a bit away from the mansion. She was gazing up at the sky with such an amazed expression, that Logan had to smile. When he neared her, however, the feelings increased.

"Katie? You okay?" He asked gruffly.

She sat up and nodded, patting the ground beside her. "Sit." she commanded softly.

Logan sat next to her and she smiled at him, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to project so bad, but, well, times like that I lose control."

Logan frowned, "You mean every time you kiss someone you end up making everyone around feel it too?"

Katherine sighed and looked away, "I wouldn't know Logan. I've never been kissed like that before. All the other times had nothing to do with passion or tenderness. Just hate and ... and lust." Katherine shivered. Logan felt her revulsion, her fear, her emptiness.

"Katie ..." He whispered softly and put his arm around her, she layed her head on his shoulder and sighed, "Let it out Katherine. Right here, right now. Scream and cry for all your worth."

Katherine shook her head, "No Logan. I can't."

"Katie, I know were far enough away from everyone so that no one else would feel it." He said reasonably.

"But you would." She whispered.

He smiled at her tenderly, "I can take it." He whispered, "Let it out Kate."

The tears came then, her shoulders shook with the weight of it and her chest ached, she sobbed brokenly and Logan put his arms around her and pulled her against his chest. Tears of his own welled up in his eyes and fell on to her hair.

He felt her loneliness, and bitterness. Her hurt and fear, her pain, concern and worry for Allison, hope, and more pain. Such anguish. They held each other, Katherine sobbing for all the pain she'd stored up over the years, and Logan weeping gentle tears into her hair for the pain that'd she'd experienced. He wept for her.

After the weeping stopped they sat together, holding each other tightly, "You cried for me." She whispered, turning to face him, "Why? Why are you so kind to me Logan? You hardly know me."

Logan sighed and swallowed chokingly, "You ... you stir strange things in me Katie." He said softly, looking away from her.

She put her palms on either side of his face. "Don't be ashamed Logan," She said in her soft, delicate voice, "Never be ashamed. Not in front of me. I've known shame Logan. You don't have to be ashamed in front of someone who lives it."

Logan's eyes searched hers for answers that weren't there. "You shouldn't be ashamed Katie. What's happened to you isn't your fault."

She smiled wobbly at him, "Perhaps ..." Katherine looked up at the stars. "There's nothing I love more then the stars," she told him, changing the subject.

Logan looked up at the stars, "They make me feel small and insignificant."

Katherine turned her head and looked at him. "Really? They make me feel like I'm not alone in the world."

"How's that?"

Katherine layed her head against his shoulder and they both layed in the grass, staring at the stars. It was a long time before she answered, "I look up at the stars and see a million twinkling eyes shining down at me, not darkness like before and I don't feel so alone. I look up and sometimes I hope that when I die, I will become a star and be able to shine down on people forever."

Logan smiled, "I never thought about it that way."

Katherine shivered. "Cold?" he asked.

"A little."

"Want to go in?"

"No. I want to stay out here, with you, like this, forever." She said softly, snuggling deeper against him.

Logan smiled, "Sounds good to me, love."

They were both quiet for a long time, staring up at the stars.

Katherine lay sideways from him, her head pillowed on his chest. Logan lay with hand cupping the back of his head, the other around Katherine, tucked a little under her breast, her small hand holding his.

It wasn't untill near dawn when something awoke him that he realized they had fallen asleep. Katherine had woken him up by attempting to mold herself to his side. She was shivering. Logan shook his head. He couldn't believe he'd fallen asleep like that. He hadn't had the dreams either. The strange ones about things he couldn't remember, things that were just beyond his grasp, things about his past.

Katherine shivered again and he lifted her into his arms, taking her twoards the house. He walked in and saw Jesse, asleep in a chair, a blanket thrown roughly over him, snoring softly.

Logan chuckled and then went upstairs to the guest room where he lay Katherine on her bed. He tucked her in and was about to leave when a small hand reached out for his, "Logan?" She asked out loud, confused and disorientated, "Why can't I see?" She cried softly.

He sat down on the bed and flicked the lamp on, Katherine stared at his face, her hand reaching out and touching his cheek. "I couldn't see. Oh I feel stupid, the light was only off." She whispered.

"S'okay Katie. Don't worry."

She smiled, her eyes drifting closed, "Thank you Logan, for everything. I only wish, things could be different ..." She whispered, then fell asleep.

Logan looked down at her confused, but decided he was to tired to figure out what she meant, he yawned and decided to hit the hay.
