Chapter Three

Katherine awoke suddenly. She was in a dark room curled up on someone's lap.

[ Jesse? ] She wondered softly. No, he's asleep. Who then? She turned in his embrace and looked up at a harsh face gentled by sleep. Logan. She smiled and yawned, laying her head back on his shoulder. His arms tightened unconsciously around her, crushing her against his chest. She sighed softly, feeling safe and protected.

Logan woke up with a sudden jerk. Where? What? He felt a bit disorientated, probably due to his nightmere, and the fact that he woke up not quite sure where he was, but then he felt a small hand rubbing the tenseness out of his shoulders. Katherine.

"Are you okay?" She whispered softly against his neck.

Logan swallowed jerkily, still feeling strange. "Yeah," he said a bit hoarsly. Her hand softly carressed his shoulder, then down his arm, moving to his hand which rested on her soft thigh. Her fingers intertwined with him and she brought them towards her face. Her fingers were long, thin, and delicate. She studied his hands, then moved them to her cheek, where she pressed it into his palm.

Logan felt the strangest feelings washing over him. Wonder, happiness, feelings of being safe and protected, and realized that they were probably hers. He was feeling what she was feeling. He carressed her cheek with the tip of one finger, down her neck. The feelings changed to desire and even a bit of anxiety.

"Logan?" She whispered softly, moving up against him as he brought her lips down to his.

The kiss started off tender and smooth, soft, but soon turned into a passionate pressing of lips. Katherine felt a soft moan escape her and heard an intimate growl escape Logan. His hand moved down her side and pulled her closer. His lips worked magic against hers and she felt strange, wonderful.

[ Kat, what in the hell is going on?! ] burst through her tender moment. Katherine broke the kiss, her breath comming out in ragged heaves, [ Jesse! ]

[ Katherine your projecting your emotions big time. At least to me, and well, kissing Logan isn't exactly something I want to experience. ] His mental voice was angry and it worried her. He was practically yelling at her.

"Katie?" Logan said softly, "Katie, I'm sorry, I-"

Katherine put her fingers to his lips. "Shhh ..." she whispered softly, kissed his nose. "Thank you Logan." She whispered, then crawled out of his lap and left. Logan sat, stunned, in the chair. He heard the front door open, then close, and wondered briefly, fleetingly, where Katherine was going. His emotions were all messed up, for, he still felt hers. He felt worry, loneliness, but mostly anger. Katherine was angry and he wasn't sure why.

"Just what in the hell do you think you're doing?" Jesse asked angrily from the doorway. Logan shook his head and turned around, "What?" He asked, he felt a sudden headache coming on and was confused, having his emotions plus hers was confusing.

"I think you heard me!" Jesse growled harshly.

"I ... none o' your damn business, bub!" Logan was confused and angry, thanks to Katherine's added emotions. Holding on to his temper wasn't forefront in his mind and Jesse was annoying him. He didn't want to deal with a man with a jealous older brother complex at that moment.

Jesse eyes gleamed angrily, then frowned when Logan clutched his head and moaned softly.

"Great stars and garters what's going on?" Hank asked from the doorway.

"Yeah Sugah..." Rogue echoed from behind him.

Jesse turned to them and back to Logan and sighed, "It's Katherine's empathy." He said simply.

Hank nodded, Rogue looked confused then shrugged, "Well ah don't feel her feelin's anymore." She said.

"I do." Logan grunted.

"Hmm ... I'll get Jean." Hank said, then left. Jean was already on her way down. "Hank what was that, I felt ... well ..." Jean blushed and Hank grimaced. "So did I," he said.

Jean laughed, then crinkled her nose, "Logan, are you all right?"

Logan shook his head, "No, I've got a huge headache Jeanie and my emotions aren't my own."

Jean sighed, "Go find her Logan, she's outside."

Jesse began to protest, "Hush Jesse. Logan won't do anything. Just go find her so you can fix this."

Logan nodded and began walking to the door. Jesse turned to follow, but Jean grabbed his arm, "It'll be okay Jesse, but I think this is personal. Don't worry, Logan would never hurt her." She said softly. Jesse looked angry, but nodded.
