Part Fifteen

Arcadia tore her arm free of Scalphunter's grasp. "I be comin wit' y', homme. No need t' hold on so tight, hehn?" *Can't be too agreeable too quick, he get suspicious. Make him t'ink he wore me down, maybe I get lucky an catch him off guard.* "Where we goin?"

"In here, sweetness. Command center, sort of. We'll use the computer to find the rest of the X-Men and track em down." His hand slowly slid down her arm again. "Maybe while the program's running, you and I could find something to do?"

"Not on your life, homme," she spat at him. "Y' take me once before, it won' happen again. Never. I gut y' first."

He punched a few buttons and stood, his eyes watching the program start up. "This will take a while, about an hour." He reached into a drawer and removed a small case, offering it to her. "Put these lenses in. Now."

She took them and studied them carefully. "Spose dese keep my power in line, non?" She shrugged and placed them quickly in her eyes. "Better?"

He produced a key. "Much." He grabbed her jaw in his big hand, holding it painfully. "I'm going to take that collar off, and you are going to behave yourself. That clear?"

She nodded and he dropped his hand. She rubbed at her jaw, wincing. "Why y' t'ink y' gotta do everyt'in so strong, hehn? I not fightin you." *Least not yet.*

He ignored her question and moved behind her. She shivered, not liking the fact that she couldn't see him. Until that collar came off, she couldn't place him in the room with her senses. She felt the key in the lock and shivered harder as his hands brushed against the skin on her neck. Then the collar fell away and she raised a hand to rub at her neck.

He replaced it with his own hands, rubbing gently. She stiffened, then forced herself to relax. *Accept it, girl. Got to make him t'ink you not gon' fight til you can get de upper hand. Den we see who hurts who.*

Against her will, she began to enjoy the rub. Her head feel forward, giving his hands room to work. *Get your mind on what needs doin, girl.* Then shivered again as his lips brushed the back of her neck. "We got work t' do, homme," she said, moving away from him. "Work first, play later." She moved across toward the computer console and he grabbed her arm, turning her to face him.

"I'll consider that a promise, little girl," he purred. She shivered again.

*Merde, Cadie, how you get int' dese t'ings, hehn?* She made herself smile at him. "Dat's cause it was, cher," she heard herself say quietly. "An don' call me little girl. Compris?"

He grinned. Inwardly, she shuddered. The face she showed him reflected none of her loathing. She allowed him to draw her close again, sternly controlling her hatred. As he lowered his head toward hers she shivered, not with passion, but revulsion. He couldn't tell the difference.

She broke the kiss, fighting the urge to gag. *Not de one I wan' kissin me, homme. Merde, what I do now?* "Sinister want dis stuff right away, mon ami. Don' y' t'ink we should take it t' him, hehn?"

Scalphunter growled. "You ain't making this easy, girl." He looked down at her, his eyes cold. "If I thought for one minute you were playing tricks, I'd kill you myself. Do we understand each other?"

She swallowed hard, and he smiled. "Understand perfectly, mon ami. Now we take dis stuff to Sinister, see what we sposed to do next, hehn? Guess I'm stuck wit' y' for a watchdog, non?"

He pushed her back and looked toward the door. "Program ain't done, girl. You're just trying to delay things, and I'm not a patient man. You've seen that. Don't make me show you again."

Her blood ran cold at the thought, and she spoke before she thought. "I know you not patient, homme. Know dat real well. But I kill you 'fore I let you rape me again. Dat's a promise."

She was saved from her temper by the intercom. "Come back to the lab, now. Leave the program. I need you here."

She started for the door, followed closely by Scalphunter. "This ain't over, girl. You're mine, and don't forget it for a second."
